Today is our first time using the blog this year. We just took our first Science CBA over Physical Science content and today we will begin our unit on Earth Science. Today you made vocabulary cards for the following words:
72. Model- something that represents something else
73. Boundary- a limit or border of an area or region
74. Structure- something built by people, like a road or a building
75. Map- a drawing of an area, usually as though you were looking down on it
76. Cartographer- a person who makes maps
77. Grid- a network of vertical and horizontal lines that form squares on a map
78. Symbol- a color, shape or texture used on a map to represent something else; like a road
79. Key- an explanation of any symbols used on a map
Tomorrow in class, we will become cartographers and create a map of the school. For today's blog entry I'd like you to write a short paragraph, describing what you think we will be doing tomorrow. In your paragraph you will need to make sure to include all eight of our new vocabulary words, make them bold or italic to make them stand out when I am grading your entries!! Remember, no names, only your classroom number. She the first comment as an example...

I think that tomorrow in science we will become CARTOGRAPHERS,an make a MODEL of our school and make sure we have BOUNDARY so it will look good,and have a STRUCTURE . I like creating MAPS and GRIDS and onn a map you have to have a KEY and a SYMBOL

I think that tomorrow in Science we will become CARTOGRAPHERS by drawing a MODEL.In this MODEL it will have a MAP of Thompson Elementary. This will drawed as a GRID.It will not be open so this will have a BOUNDARY. Also this will have a KEY. In this KEY it will have SYMBOLS of what is on the building. Every kid will be building this STRUCTURE. That is what I think we will be doing tomorrow.

I think that tomorrow we will become CARTOGRAPHERS BY MAKING A MAP AND a little structure. And a model and on that map there will be grids there will also be a boundary on there i will do symbols on the keys so you wont get confused.

I think that we'll become cartographers by making maps of the school. we'll add all of a maps properties like the structure, the grid , the limit of the school [boundary] , the symbols,the key,and the model.

(Number 18 ) I think that we will be CARTOGRAPHERS because ......... Were going to learn the importance of the KEY, the GRID, Model, STRUCTURE, SYMBOL, BOUNDARY and the importance of the Map. Then I think were going to choose 5 partners then we going get a long sheet copy paper ( Something that's long and thick). But before we do all of this you are going to kind of walk us through it. Then you are going to give us about two hours, after that were are going to go around and look at others. When that is over, you are going to call on people and ask them what we notice, that is it! a

And Grids on how it tells/where it needs to go to be followed and in the good shape for right direction ,and use our Boundary of where you need to go and an area you need to be in and you use your Key of what street and Symbol's on to represent our features of things And use your Map of where you need to go and be to make or do something.

Well it's easy all you need is a BOUNDARY , a KEY ,a GRID , and a SYMBOL. Inside the map you need a MODEL and STrUCTURE . Tomorrow I might teach you how to map of the school.

ReplyDeletei think that a CARTOGRAPHER is somebody that makes a MAP over a certain place and they give you the KEY. Using a GRID is a great thing to help us. I think we can only build a STRUCTURE on a piece of paper.(not in real life.) This BOUNDARY. This will be a great MODEL of our school. i cant wait to make the SYMBOLS.
i think we will be representing a MODEL of our school and doing a BOUNDARY of our school and learning how to add SYMBOLS and some things like adding KEYS and other things like that and probobliy using MAPS and and using a GRID of our school STRUCTURE of our school
