Welcome back after a long Thanksgivng break, I hope y'all had fun. This week we are continuing our discussions of Weathering, Erosion and Deposition by learning about the slow changes that can occur to landforms and the rapid, or quick changes that occur. Today in class we discussed the formation of caves, and in the computer lab you watched the glaciers and mountains video.
Caves: stalactites, stalagmites, columns, cave pools
Glaciers change "V" shaped valleys into "U" shaped valleys:

Something I learned about glaciers is that they are formed by ice and snow. Something I Learned about mountains is that are formed from the earths crust.

ReplyDeleteWhat I learned about is that volcanos are formed by cool magma.I also learned that glaciers picks up things and deposit in a new place.I learned in class that caves are formed with rain that goes underground and breaks the rock down and makes a hole underground and the water droplets leave the minerals on the top and bottom of the cave to form stalagmites and stalagtites

ReplyDeletewhat i learned is that glaciers are made up of snow piled up high then once its high the bottom turns into ice then it gets mushy in the bottom. mountains are made of the plates that move in the surface of the earth they pull apart or push against each other an make lots of cool transformations. what i learned about cave is that the water went through and the minerals are mixed with it and keeps on going in and it turns into a cave !!!!!! #5

today we learned that {glaciers} move gradually (2 centimeters every year) {mountains} can be at valleys and become valley glaciers at a frozen peak {caves} when it rains the drops go through the ground and pickup minerals then they make empty space then they form stalagtites (minerals hanging from the ceiling) stalacmites (are on the ground) colunms (connected minerals) and it keeps dripping to make a cave pool#23
