Today we begin our discussions of biomes, and the adaptations of organisms that are found there. You can follow the linked work above to go to a Berkely website that has really good information on different biomes. Our Science Saurus defines a biome as a very large area of land with a certain kind of climate and certain kinds of organisms living there. An adatptation is a structure (body party) or behavior (something you do) that allows an organism to survive in it's environment.

Our two classes go to the computer lab on opposite days, however we will be watching this video in the computer lab. Underwater Astonishments.

Students, after you've watched this video, click on the comment button, and answer the following question. Remember, do not leave your name. Put your teacher's name, and your number. For example, Echols #19, or Kuykendall #19

What type of adaptations did you witness during the video? How could these be useful to that organism.

  6. octopuses can blend in with their surroundings, to hide from their prey. Some octopuses move very slow to look like a rock, that is another stratagey to hide from their prey. When his camera guy snook up on a squid and it inked the camera.

The octopus was amazing! I've never seen an animal camoflaouge as algae!
I bet the predator would've never seen them because I didn't. This is a perfect example for camouflauge.

  30. kuykendall #24

they change their skin color (camofloge) so that the pure do not not eat them.

The octopus had a really cool adaptation witch was that it could camoflauge to where it could trick it's prey or enemies.

I saw that some organisms can blend in with the rocks and the coral so it can protect it's self from it's predator. The octupus can blend in the corals so it's prey won't be able to see them.

The octopus was amazing when it blend in.I didn't even see it.I think it helps it when it blends in because the other animals that harm it, the octopus blends in and the other animals can't harm it.

Mrs,chols that was very cool.It taught me alot more about the ocean animals, and I would need to know that because I am going to be an oceanoloigist or a merion bioligist when I grow up or something to do with the ocean animals. Now what I saw in the adaptations were that the octopus has to camafloge itself to protect itself from predators. It was really cool how its eyes turned brown.I really enjoyed the vidie it was also very important to me.

  46. Kuykendall#4 I loved the video even the last part.It was really cool. The video made me think more about octopus and how they look alike and how they don't look alike.

  52. #14, I had no idea that you were interested in Marine biology! Isn't it so amazing, I'm glad that you liked the video. :)

#20, you did an excellent job at wording your answer, and you discussed the changing of the squids when they were with a male or a female... good job.
